In this workshop for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioners, you will refresh your technique and review EMDR protocols and procedures, consult on difficult cases, watch demonstrations, and practice EMDR in small supervised groups. Instruction focuses on using EMDR with complex cases, resource development and installation, target development, and cognitive interweaves.
COVID and VIRTUAL 2020 EMDR Basic Trainings
We are among a select group of EMDR trainings approved by EMDRIA to provide Virtual Trainings. Since, the safety of our community is paramount, and until we are advised by trusted experts that it is safe to resume in-person group training sessions, we will hold the remainder of our 2020 EMDR trainings, via Zoom meetings. Our virtual trainings will provide the same curriculum and rich learning experience we are known for.
Those registering need to be prepared to meet via Zoom with reliable and secure access to a computer or tablet device. We will provide you with detailed guidance and preparation to assure a successful training experience.
This course is limited to mental health professionals who are licensed to provide treatment. Through lecture, hands-on practice, and demonstrations, participants will learn to:
- Cite protocols and procedures for using EMDR with a wide range of diagnostic categories
- Identify client selection criteria and cautions necessary for safe use of EMDR
- Practice techniques for working with blocked processing and abreactions (catharsis)
- Employ imaginal and cognitive interweaves
- Use EMDR with adults traumatized as children
- Review standard protocol and procedure
- Describe modified protocol and when to use it
- Apply techniques for target development
- Use techniques for resource development and installation
- Practice the advanced use of interweaves
- Work more effectively with complex cases
This course has been approved by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). In accordance with EMDRIA standards, participants wishing to complete the requirements for EMDR Basic Training must, before enrolling in this course, have completed Parnell Institute’s EMDR Basic Training Parts 1 & 2, and have received ten hours of consultation from an EMDRIA-approved recommended consultant from the Parnell Institute faculty. You will be required to submit documentation of having completed these requirements before attending.
Participants who have completed Parnell Institute EMDR Basic Training are welcome to enroll in this course for advanced training and as a refresher.

- Parnell Institute, LLC reserves the right to determine whether I am eligible to continue the training at any stage. Although it happens rarely, the Parnell Institute sometimes determines that a participant is not able to participate fully, has not mastered the material adequately, or is too disruptive to continue. If this were to occur, Parnell Institute would provide an opportunity to improve and return at a later date. However, I understand that this would be done at my own expense.

Satisfactory Completion
Participants must have paid tuition fee, signed in, attended the entire seminar, completed an evaluation, and signed out in order to receive a certificate. Failure to sign in or out will result in forfeiture of credit for the entire course. No exceptions will be made. Partial credit is not available.

About the Trainer:
Constance Kaplan is a psychotherapist in private practice in Los Angeles. She specializes in treating PTSD, Complex Trauma and Early Attachment Trauma with EMDR and somatic modalities integrated into a contemporary and relational psychodynamic practice. Ms. Kaplan is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, Faculty, Approved Consultant and Senior Trainer for EMDR Basic Training Parts 1, 2 and 3 at the world- renown Parnell Institute. She has trained clinicians around the country and has facilitated with Dr. Parnell in the United States, Singapore and Malaysia. Ms. Kaplan was Keynote presenter and Master Class instructor at the 2017, 2018, and 2019 Parnell Institute Innovations in EMDR Conference held at 1440 Multiversity, Scotts Valley, California, Omega Institute, Rhinebeck, New York and in San Francisco. She is a contributing author for Dr. Parnell’s newest book, Rewiring the Addicted Brain: An EMDR – Based Treatment Model for Overcoming Addictive Disorders, 2018.
